Hospice Wairarapa is offering a wide range of programmes and services to support the terminally ill and their families throughout our region, helping them to make the most of their lives so they may live every moment in whatever way is important to them. We have a Memorandum of Understanding with the Wairarapa DHB to complement the medical services provided under their Kahukura Palliative Care Service umbrella. We also work alongside other organisations assisting patients with life limiting illnesses, such as the Cancer Society, and other organisations such as respiratory or neurological support groups.

Suzie Adamson (General Manager) has responsibility for developing the Board’s vision and oversees the day to day operations of the Hospice services at our base Te Kowhai. Suzie also has responsibility for all fundraising operations including retail. Suzie is on a number of regional palliative Governance and Management groups and always welcomes feedback and ideas to improve our Hospice services and delivery.

Maureen Hodder (Finance Manager and Office Administrator) manages all accounts, Trust matters, compliance, budgets and administration matters and can be contacted on

Chris Wills (Manager Volunteer Services) manages our large team of volunteers at Hospice Wairarapa, and working with our Clinical Services Manager, matches a volunteer to help in ways our patient and their family choose. Wendy Turton (Manager Clinical Services) meets with patients and families to share and talk about the services Hospice can support them with. Yvonne Renton (Retail Manager) has responsibility for the day to day operations of the Hospice Shop at 53 Queen Street and our Saturday Garage Sale at our base Te Kowhai at 59 Renall Street Materton. Yvonne manages the shop Collections Driver and shop volunteers and always welcomes inquiries from people interested in helping as a retail volunteer. Kirsten Johnston (Programmes Coordinator) coordinates our suite of free programmes such as Creative Hands, Out and About, Living Around Grief and the Caregivers Programme. Emma Batt (Fundraising Coordinator) coordinates Hospice’s existing fundraising events and works with the General Manager to develop new revenue streams to support our free programmes and services.
