patient and family support in the home

No one in our Wairarapa community has to face a palliative journey without support.

Picture
From the moment a palliative diagnosis is given, the G.P or specialist can immediately refer you to Hospice Wairarapa where we will support you and your family, whanau or caregivers in the journey ahead.

You can also self-refer or a family member can make a referral to us.
Everyone’s journey is unique to them and those they love.

Our Clinical Services Manager will meet with you and talk about the services we offer, and how we can best meet the needs of you and your loved ones.
We offer many services, some may be appropriate immediately and others you may choose to use at a different time.
We can also offer support for those caring for you, be it counselling, a massage, a pamper session or caregiver support groups.

Hospice Wairarapa have a number of trained volunteers who are available to help make a difference in ways important to you – whether it be providing a meal, delivering home baking, sitting with a patient in their home, taking someone on an outing, reading a book or the newspaper or walking the dog.

Our Clinical Services Manager works with our Volunteer Services Manager to match the right trained volunteer with you.
This trusting and supporting relationship puts our Hospice mission of ‘Helping make every day count’ into action across our region.

In partnership with the Wairarapa DHB Palliative Nursing service (Kahukura) we can support caregivers who are exhausted looking after a loved one at home, by funding night support. This service is arranged through Kahukura and enables a caregiver to have an unbroken night’s sleep while a trained person looks after their loved one.
