Hospice Awareness Week 2026 National Campaign
This May, Hospice Wairarapa is proud to join hospices across Aotearoa to mark Hospice Awareness Week 2026. It is a time to reflect on what it truly means to live and die well, and to celebrate the people and communities who make compassionate care possible.
This year's national campaign captures something we know deeply here in the Wairarapa: that hospice care is not just about one person. It wraps around patients, whānau, friends, volunteers, and the wider community. It extends beyond grief, leaving a lasting mark on the lives it touches.
At the heart of the campaign is a powerful short film that brings to life three stories from across New Zealand. Each tells a different face of hospice care, reminding us that the impact of hospice support is far-reaching and wraps around us all.
Here in Wairarapa, we see this impact every day. Our team provides free social, spiritual, and emotional care throughout the region. Our trained volunteers offer companionship and respite, while our Biography Team helps preserve life stories. And none of it would be possible without the generosity of our community.
Hospice Awareness Week is a chance to say thank you to our staff, volunteers, donors, and everyone who has trusted us to walk alongside them as they experience the end of life.
Hospice Wairarapa provides free palliative support to people with life-limiting illness and their whānau across the Wairarapa. To find out more or to access our services, please get in touch.
Our annual street appeal runs for the duration of Hospice Awareness Week. We appreciate any support you can give, from volunteering for the street collection to making a donation.
