PalCare Digital Record System Supports More Connected Palliative Care in Wairarapa
The Wairarapa region is taking an important step forward in delivering palliative care with the introduction of PalCare, the digital patient management system used by hospices nationwide. As highlighted in the Wairarapa Times-Age article on 24/03/2026, the move from paper-based records to a shared digital platform will support a more connected and coordinated approach to care.
Supported by funding from Trust House Foundation, PalCare enables clinicians across services to access timely, accurate information, strengthening collaboration and continuity of care. This shared system helps ensure that patients and their whānau receive well-coordinated support, regardless of where care is being delivered.
Hospice Wairarapa Chief Executive Gretchen Saulbrey noted the system will enhance the ability for teams to work together, supporting a more integrated, multidisciplinary response that is focused on the needs of patients and their whānau during an incredibly challenging time.
