Deuce Days 2025
Masterton has attracted yet another major car event.
Over Easter weekend more than fifty 1932 Fords, mainly hot rods but with vintage cars expected also, will roll into town for Deuce Days.
It is the sixth event of it’s kind that Lloyd Wilson from Magoo’s Street Rods has convened, and it has attracted entrants from as far away as Whangarei and Dunedin.
Henry Ford introduced the legendary flathead V8 engine in 1932 and with it’s superior speed it became a favourite, including for bank robbers Bonnie & Clyde who even wrote to Ford endorsing how they favoured it as a get-away car.
The body design moved away from the boxy Model T and Model A cars that preceded it but the production run was cut short because of the Great Depression.
Wilson, who personally owns two ‘Deuces’ explains; “I’m passionate about that particular model, but I am also passionate about Hospice, so over the weekend we will be incorporating some fund raising for Hospice Wairarapa including a charity auction for the participants, and a public open display at Copthorne Solway Park on Saturday 20 April from 3-5pm”.
