We hold a variety of events throughout the year that help us raise awareness and some of the funding for the support services we offer.
From Darkness to Light
Show your support for Hospice Wairarapa by attending this special concert - From Darkness to Light - by the Wairarapa Singers.
The concert programme includes Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest - a piece that allows us to reflect and remember. The singers will be accompanied by a chamber group of instrumentalists and supported by three outstanding soloists.
$1 from every ticket sold will be donated to Hospice Wairarapa.

Spring Hospice Wairarapa Golf Day 2026
Entries are open for the 2026 Hospice Wairarapa Golf Day, sponsored by Fall Protect - teeing off at 10am on Friday 18th September 2026.
Hosted at Carterton Golf Club, this tournament is an entertaining day that raises vital funds to provide wraparound care across our region for people with a life-limiting illness, as well as their whānau and carers.

Seasons for Growth Seminar - Featherston
Date: Thursday 23 April 2026
Time: 10am – 1pm
Venue: Featherston Community Centre
The seminar aims to help you to understand the impact of loss and grief of any kind.
All are welcome – both those personally impacted by loss and those supporting others through loss.
Morning tea is provided – please let us know of any dietary requirements.
IMPORTANT - Please note: Coconut products of any kind cannot be brought into the Featherston Community Centre – foods, cosmetic products, jewellery, cloth – as there are volunteers at the Centre who have a serious allergy to coconut.

Harakeke Weaving Workshop
We’re hosting a monthly harakeke flax‑weaving workshop at Hospice Wairarapa for anyone experiencing loss, grief, or change due to a serious illness - whether personally, as a caregiver, or supporting someone on that journey.
Weaving has many benefits, such as, enhancing hauora wellbeing, encouraging mindfulness, concentration and satisfaction from seeing the final product. This can help to reduce stress, anxiety and provide time out when facing significant health challenges.
The harakeke weaving sessions occur on:

Seasons for Growth - Martinborough
Understanding Change, Loss and Grief is a seminar designed for people with an interest in learning about grief, its potential triggers and impacts, and strategies form managing it and moving forward. Participants may be interested in finding out more about grief for personal reasons or to deepen their understanding of the impact of grief and loss for their professional or work experience.

Seasons for Growth – Exploring the Seasons of Grief
Seasons for Growth aims to build resilience and bring hope and confidence to adults who have experienced significant change or loss. Grief may be due to any number of experiences: bereavement, relationship breakdown, coming to a new country or experiencing a natural disaster. It may be a recent loss, or something that happened a long time ago.
The program is run across 4 weekly sessions:
Tuesday evenings 5pm - 9pm starting on 3rd March 2026 and running through to 24 March 2026

Foundations of Spiritual Care
Ngā Mātāpono O Te Manaaki Wairua – Foundations of Spiritual Care
This programme is a professional development programme targeting foundation spiritual care training needs of the hospice teams (governance, staff and volunteers). Ultimately the aim is to improve the understanding and knowledge of spirituality and spiritual care with and for the wider hospice team. Thereby improving the spiritual wellbeing of their organisations and spiritual care for patients, families and whānau.
